We will explore the development of codebreaking outstations which supported Bletchley Park during the Second World War, including local stations at Stanmore and Eastcote.
Our speaker, Ronald Koorm, will share with us how the Nazi Enigma code machine was developed and how the Allies approached cracking the code.
We will also discover the important role played by women, including the WRNS, who made an enormous contribution to codebreaking and support duties – in fact, 75% of personnel at Bletchley Park were women.
We will then explore Eastcote’s post-war history and its development into GCHQ.
